Magnitude 5.9 Earthquake in Kadingilan, Bukidnon

A magnitude 5.9 earthquake rocked Mindanao at around 9:22pm, Monday night, November 18. The epicenter was located some 6 km northwest of Kadingilan, Bukidnon. It was intensity IV in Cagayan de Oro. The earthquake was tectonic in origin.

During the earthquake, I was doing the dishes and suddenly I felt dizzy and thought that it was just an headache then I realized that I was an earthquake. I thought it was a normal and a weak earthquake but it started to get stronger over time and it felt like were thrown and the ground was moving in an up-and-down motion. It is the first time that I felt an intensity 4 earthquake.

As the earthquake is happening, I stop washing the dishes and thinking to be calm. In the other hand, my sister was panicking and started screaming and started yelling "PAPAAAA!". I shouted at my sister and told her to be calm and don't panic. I've told her that go under a hard object or put your hand or a hard object on top of your head in case something gonna fall.

Luckily, no one of my friends we're injured or hurt during the earthquake but sadly their are reports that many are affected badly during the earthquake and some infrastructures were destroyed during the disaster.

The trending Beef & Chicken Shawarma in Cogon

This is now the latest craze of Cagayanons who want to taste the best past time food in the streets of Cogon Market - the Shawarma in Turkish style. A lot of Kagay-anons have recently posted on social media about this stall, and have praised it for its authentic taste and affordable price.

Have you tried 3M’s SHAWARMA yet? It’s that food stall selling chicken shawarma along JR Borja Street near Cogon Market in Cagayan de Oro City that has been drawing customers lately. Why? Aside from chicken (most shawarma in CDO are using beef), the one making it is Turkish so it must be authentic and finally, it only costs P49.

Each chicken shawarma is prepared fresh and is stuffed with chicken meat, potatoes, tomatoes, onions, and cabbages, with a taste that’s fused together with their Classic Garlic Shawarma Sauce.

Customers patiently wait for their orders to be prepared. You can see he uses gloves and wears a uniform. Because street vendors are not allowed during rush hours, you can catch him every night around 6:00pm to 7:00pm and until the shawarma runs out.

GRSHS - X Fire and Earthquake Drill

GRSHS - X is conducting once every month an activity which helps students to prepare in any natural calamities and disasters. Proper execution of school drills will also help prevent panic, which might lead to accidents when everyone is overwhelmed with fear during a strong earthquake. ... During a major earthquake, the greatest immediate hazard to people in or near buildings is the danger of being hit by falling objects. Fire drills help prepare employees to respond quickly, calmly, and safely. Fire drills play a very important role in workplace fire safety. ... Include outside resources such as fire and police departments when possible. After each drill, gather management and employees to evaluate the effectiveness of the drill.

Gusa Regional Science High School – X invited the Fire Department of Cagayan de Oro for the preparation of the Fire and Earthquake Drill
