In Mourning: Sky Watching Lifts Me Up

Every waking moments of my life, I appreciate the air I breathe and the gift of life. Life is too short to be wasted. When hubby and I travel either long trip or just around the neighborhood, I make sure that I glorify God for all His goodness and blessings. I am not as religious as you are but, I know how to thank and praise God (wink). When I am not in my gaily mood, sky watching lifts me up and it's my way of conversing to God.

A while ago, I was browsing of the funeral photos of a neighbor friend back home. It is heartbreaking to see her husband and son mourning then, I started to recall. Ate Lita is our neighbor in fact, our house is next to hers and she is the first neighbor that is like a family to us. We were neighbors for 13 years and she and my mom bonded closely together. When I was at work whole day, she was there for my mom chit-chatting about dreams and life.

When I left to migrate half way around the globe, she remains a good friend to my mom. Ate Lita's company is precious and she was always there for my mom. I was back home in two years and she was there with warm smiles excited that I came home to be with my mom. We talk about the future that one of these days, we all could go to Bohol, in their farm and spend a vacation in the island. On my next visit, I said.

Our health is indeed our wealth. No matter how financially stable we are, if our health will deteriorate then, we are at the mercy of God's ultimate healing. I was thinking about my health because lately, I am sickly. Anyway, I talk to my mom every day and I was aware that Ate Lita was sick for few months now. I thought it was just an ordinary sickness you know; fever and colds. I thought she will be back in her home soon. She died at the age of 54 and all I can remember about her is that she is very healthy. I was surprised to learn that she was gone and I ask why? Why her Lord? She has so many plans. What about her dreams for her son? As I gazed up the sky, it seems that this statement has broken the silence: Who am I to complain about God's plan?

Wherever you are right now Ate Lita, you are now at peace in God's presence. I will truly miss you when I come home soon. To a good friend, rest in peace Ate.

Sky watching lifts me up when I am sad, lonely or heartbroken. The beauty of nature speaks profoundly about God's promise that amidst life's obstacles and pain, there will always be sunny and beautiful skies. Thank you for reading my post everyone. I hope you like the photos above. All of these were taken along the roads heading to Melbourne, Florida. Stay happy and live life to the fullest.

Farm in Alabama

When we had our road trip to Alabama, I was so excited. Hubby has a friend in High School and they have been communicating through emails and phone calls. They are up to date about their latest achievement in life. Oh I am talking about family, children, career moves and what they do most of their life now. High School had been 4 decades ago or more but, it was amazing that they remember all the crazy things they did in High School.Yep! I was excited because Alabama is a pretty laid-back place just like Mississippi where you can see people loves eating Southern food, enjoys family activities, attend the church and has the passion to work to provide the family. The thought of traveling to a dirt road was on my mind. It was not the case, gone are those days just like what we saw in the movies. Anyway, the road to our friends' place is long, narrow and winding! Our GPS cannot even locate the place and of course, Internet signal was limited. We were able to reach his beautiful and new constructed home and at the back of his big house was the farmland with animals. He got almost a hundred goats and the amazing part, he had names to all of them. Most of the goats are pregnant and in few weeks, kids will be running in the big yard. They love their farm animals and they do not butcher them because they treat them as babies. They sells them but, not eat them.Aside from goats, they have donkeys and chickens also. I was asking the wife if they had fun having a roasted chicken all the time and I see horror in her eyes. LOL, sorry! Yeah! They do not eat their own pets because they are family as what she says. I keep teasing her but, she was kind enough to explain and she even retorted that they are not that hungry enough to eat their pets. We all burst out laughing! That night, the four of us were reminiscing the men's high school bully days. They are the bullies at that time but, that was 4 decades ago and so different from the bullies we had nowadays. They do not hurt people in those days and up to this time, they remain friends. If you live in the country, people know each other and their generation. We had a good laugh that night and we sleep at midnight. We had a wonderful time!

Goodbye Ernie

This is Ernie. One of my favorite dogs but he lived in Mississippi. While we lived there for almost two years, Ernie always tagged along with his daddy (that's my cousin). Wherever his daddy go, Ernie is with him. His daddy had a house washing company, he had to go when his daddy had work to do too.Ernie passed away when one night, he had problems with his stomach and he was 12 years old. My cousin loved him as a dear child. I must admit, Ernie was really smart and funny. He would come towards me inviting to play as he would run back and forth with a wagging tail. My cousin was really devastated when the vet can't save him. When we all got together, we always talk about Ernie and the funny tricks he did when he was still alive.

Two Cents

It's been five days that I chose to relax my eyes from my PC. All I did the whole time was do some household chores but watch TV at the same time and enjoy the outdoors. Hubby and I took the time to drive the neighborhood everyday and did some grocery. One more thing, our share of two cents this week: Our neighbors had a hit and run accident last week and since they are nice couple, hubby offers a ride. The wife needs a ride to and from the workplace so, both of us will pick her up all the time until they fix their car. It's NO hassle at all since we have nothing to do anyway. We should do something NICE to others right? What's your two cents today? It's not too late! Do something good to others okay?

The Reunion of XU Library Kapamilya

I really do not have the time to have a real vacation because all my days were spent with my home project. When the XU Library Kapamilya invited me to attend the get together party, I did not hesitate to join. Fresh my my migraine attack, I had a wonderful time with them at Opol Beach, Philippines.

Shown in the pictures are some of the XU Librarians and my co-workers in college. We are called XU Library Association of Working Scholars, a group of XU Students who are self supporting with the help of the remuneration that we received as an SA-student assistant. They are part of my life who have been instrumental of what I am today.

Favorite Place

We went to Florida to see some houses and we already have some preference. Hubby and I really wanted to buy a property nearby the lake or beach just like this one. This is the place of our friend in Florida and she had a private dock for her boat. A tiki bar beside the lake is truly wonderful. We love fishing and this area is good for that activity. We went boating one afternoon and it was the best place that I wanted to unwind. I am hoping to find a place like this to call home.

Doggie Friend

We had a new neighbor and luckily, we found a new friend too. When our long time neighbor put their property in the market, we kind'a sad but they needed it because their house here is too huge for them to maintain aside from two others. So, a 68 old man who looks like 50's (LOL) bought it with his three dogs.

When I was gardening one day, someone smooch on my heel and when I look back, a huge dog is looking at me. This is Rusty and came to find out, he is not our neighbors dog. He is like a stray dog and he is new in the neighborhood too. He came from the house further. Anyway, he is so friendly and bigger than I am. When we went to a grocery, Rusty has his own share of treats. I bet his old owner train him good. He loves fetching the ball, he can crawl too. It was so funny! He had many tricks and when my husband tried to say "roll over", he did! Well, he visit us almost everyday and we feed him. Sometimes, he would bring 2 dogs as if bragging that we are his friends. Amazing dog huh?

Cute Little Friend

Christmas is a time of joy, expressing love and care, and sending well wishes to someone who has touched our lives. I am so grateful that there are people who made me feel special like Shana, Kevin and Emilia. I met this family in Orlando, I mentioned about it in THIS POST. Anyway, here are the pictures of Emilia a year ago. Do you think she really posing? Nope! That is why, I snap a picture right away and here's what I got.
See how she smile at the camera? I just set it for 10 seconds delay and look at her. She is adorable, smart and funny.
Emilia in her playful mood. Yesterday, I received a card from them with her latest picture. It was really nice of them to remember me and wish me well.
I wish this family all the best in the world. I am so grateful that I met this family and for giving me courage to follow what my heart desires.

I Am Mourning

As you noticed, I blog about Thankful Thursday yesterday. Thankful and grateful that I met a nice family through Barbara. She was a mother to me. In fact, when I got married, she presented herself to stand on my side as my mother. Yet, on my wedding day, she was not around because she was mourning of the sudden death of her husband. And today, she passed away...too suddenly. We were expecting to see her again when we go back to Orlando. She also wanted me to be her assistant to go over the tools of her husband and put the price so she can have it on a garage sale. Well, those were unfinished plans.
I missed her terribly now. I was just shocked to know that she died in pneumonia. She was spending a Thanksgiving Party with her family in Georgia and when she came back to Orlando, she was not feeling well. The daughter is a pilot in American Airline and she was supposed to be in Orlando today to pick up the mother and visit a doctor. The mother of that family I posted in my Thankful Thursday post, came by to check on Barbara earlier today and found her dead. They were close friends and she called my husband, informing the bad news. I am sad of her passing but on the other hand, happy that she finally find the PEACE she wanted. The passing of her husband last year devastated her and the ashes was with her all the time. She kept telling us that she will be buried with the husband. I know it will come but, not so soon. I will miss you Barbara. Rest in Peace my friend.

By the way, if you wanted to buy a property in North Carolina, check out jacksonville nc real estate. Just visit the Website and you will surely get the property that you are looking for.

Thankful Thursday

When I was in Orlando, I met this beautiful family through Barbara, a friend who is like my mother. Arriving in the US for the first time was like being in a NEW WORLD. It was Barbara that I get to talk to and she knew that I needed to work because I was bored at home. When my husband went to work, he drove me to her place. All we did was talk and went out for grocery even if she really do not need to. Anyway, knowing that I have a background in handling children at school, she recommended me to this new couple. The man worked in a prestigious hotel in Florida while the woman managed a booming Spa business in Orlando. They are desperate to find someone who they can trust to take care of their beloved princess in their wonderful home.
I met both the woman and the baby in the morning and the moment I walked in, Emilia held my hand as a gesture of welcome. The mother was amazed because she thought there was a "click" between us already. I knew the mother liked me, that's what I thought, LOL but, she waited for the decision of her husband. Later that evening, we came back and I met the husband. He too was delighted to see the reaction of his princess towards me. I was with Emilia for four months and she was just 15 months old at that time. She is very adorable, sweet, intelligent and happy. We both love to watch educational TV series, we play tag (that was tiring for me, LOL), we dance a lot and she loves to run. In four months she can recognized pictures and say the words properly. I used flash cards to teach her new words and everyday, she had tricks to brag to her parents. When I announced that we will move to Mississippi, the mother cried and the father was disappointed. Both of them were shocked because they have so much plan for me to have me stay with them forever. Of course, eventually, we all knew it will never happen but, as long as I live in Orlando, they can always call me. The parting was painful for all of us. The mother was in tears as I hugged her goodbye and my heart was crying too. They gave me a bracelet with a message "YOU WILL BE MISSED". ---to be continued.

Friends Back Home

I am a very simple person and I do not change at all. I am talking about my beliefs, my simple view about life and how I treasure friendship. My friends describe me as simple, friendly and easy to get along with. They know that I appreciate simple things and I laugh at shallow jokes. Back home, I have friends from all walks of life and the ages varies.
Anyway, wearing apple green is Mic-Mic, a mommy of three adorable kids. The beautiful model is Rusty, yep she is a he and I have so many gay friends back home.
I like this company because we always have happy moments. When we attended gatherings, we always love to eat and crack jokes. That is fun for me and that is shallow, i know, LOL.
Hehehe, Rusty and Ethel loves to wear make up. I wanted to but, I look gay when I wear make up. So, I am contented with just a lipstick and a face powder. It's good to see the faces of friends back home. I miss their company.

Blast From the Past

I was in my FB account and saw this picture in Sigrid's account. She is one of my close friends back home and we communicate everyday.

Specially now that she finally have her own internet at home. The picture was taken four years ago and I wore dark pink sleeveless. I miss that blouse. I left that in the Phiippines. This picture was taken during the Wedding of Easter. I am still the same huh. How I wish I can pass 100 lbs but, I am still trying. It is really good to see the faces of my friends back home.

Old Photos

I grab these photos from my friend's account in FB. I almost forgot about this event. It is just amazing that after four years, I still look the same. In fact, my little friend Emily who is four thought that I am her playmate, LOL. I still wear a small and medium size clothings and in the junior department. Glad that I can wear a size 1 jeans now, from size 0 to 1, not bad huh?
I felt nostalgic seeing the faces of my friends that I hang around with. We usually go malling, watch movies, shopping and attend gatherings. Sometimes, we travel to Davao, Camiguin, Cebu and Lanao areas in the Philippines.
I love to travel and take pictures. That is why, when my friend Sigrid posted these pictures in her FB account, I was so thrilled to see our old photos. Something to cherish right?

Her Funny Picture

She is my new found friend here in Mississippi, LOL. Actually, she is beside me right now and she gave me instructions what to write. But, I am hard headed, Hehehe. So, I have to write what I need to write. First, she complain because, she wanted me to acknowledge that I am her grandma already. MY OH MY! Her mom is the daughter of my sister-in-law, therefore I am a grandma. Okay, she is my friend and I am a grandma already, LOL. She is a sweety and an intelligent girl. She is good in dancing. She is a ballet dancer and she already did a recital since she was three year old.
Here is a sample of visual effects using picjoke.com where you can do some photo editing.

Amazing B-Day Card

My father-in-law gave me this card last Sunday. I was amazed that an 89 year old regard me as what the card says. I was tickled but, I was so grateful for treating me this way. Ironic because I am 38 years old this year....LOL.
For some reason, I am still a child at heart. I love animated movies and Disney World fascinates me still.
Last Sunday, I treat all 15 of my family to The Isle of Capri Hotel and Casino for a change. That is what I did in the Philippines when I have my birthday. It is just easy for me to bring them all and eat in a restaurant. I am just avoiding the tiring preparation and the post party routine. Everyone was glad and have fun during lunch. On my big day, my hubby and father in-law will go to Hard Rock for lunch. Just the three of us. To Cookie, Niko, Eden, Shy, Cacai,Beng Lulu, Kittykat , David and Gracia who greet me early, thanks a lot for remembering.
