Lord's Widow: For A Good Cause

My mother is active in the church activity as well as other social gatherings for seniors. This picture was taken during the 18th Anniversary Celebration of the Lord's Widows held in Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines. They have a Beauty Search during this time and most of the proceeds will benefit the victims of a calamity in the nearby towns. I told myself, I will support my mom at the same time give it for a cause. I sent an amount that would make her win the title. But, a friend needed financial help at that moment. My mother asked me if she could split the money and help a friend. I told her, it's her decision. She won first runner-up for few pesos difference. But, all of us were satisfied because we help the cause and most of all we extended help for a friend in need.

BP is a Failure

Fox News channel is showing the boom in Destin, Florida. I took this picture two weeks ago and people were splashing on the beach. This place is really awesome! Yet, on the day that I took this picture, the oil spill is less than 48 hours away from the shoreline. As I saw on the news, the local government had precautionary action done by using boom on the area. The beach is still open for the public.

As of today, BP had failed to close the source of the oil spill. For 60 days, BP is really SLOW in the effort of solving the problem in connection to the disaster of Deepwater Horizon Exlposion. WHY? Why it took so long? BP is a British-based global energy company, the third largest energy company and the fourth largest company in the world. But, when it comes to disasters which their company is responsible, BP is the biggest failure ever! Do something ASAP!

Oil Spill in Louisiana

This is what happened to Deepwater Horizon, an oil rig built in 2001 operating in the Gulf of Mexico off the Coast of Louisiana. The oil rig had a sudden explosion on April 20, 2010 and discharging up to 5,000 barrels of crude oil daily.

Today, we drove by the beach and we smell crude oil moving to the area of Ocean Springs, Mississippi. The smell is so strong in our area and much more on the beach. This could result into an environmental disaster if the crude oil reach the Gulf coast. It could damage the eco- system, the Gulf coast fishing industry and of course the habitat of hundreds of bird species like seagulls, pelicans and ducks. I just hope that the clean up process in the Louisiana area will be fast enough to keep this threat away from our shoreline. Deepwater Horizon sank at the bottom of the sea after 2 days of the explosion.

The Old House

This is the old house of my father-in-law. My husband's home for so many years. It was August 29 2005 when Hurricane Katrina hit Florida, Mississippi and Louisiana States. The water level reached at the ceiling of the house. Everything inside washed out. Cars was destroyed too. My Father-in-law and his wife evacuate to his daughter's place away from the shoreline. Just click the pictures to see how devastating that storm was. Everything inside the house was destroyed. What was really heartbreaking was all the pictures and memories too were washed out to the sea. I visited this sight few days ago. It was really the best. The community is nice, big houses and his property was really huge. The back area has swimming pool and as you can see, the water level left a mark above the roof top. The pool was filled with dirt water and debris. Their two cars swept by the current. If you visit Mississippi right now, towards the Gulf Coast, there were still ruins left by that storm.
There was no single item in the house that can be salvage. All the childhood pictures of my husband were gone too. My sisters- in-law kept a few so, I have glimpsed of the handsome face of my hubby when he was younger (Smile). Can't believe I married a Hollywood star...LOL!
The backyard of this house was huge. Pool and a Dock Area for his boat. That was really a huge boat. I think I will enjoy living in this place than where we are right now. The property was surrounded by the bayou/lake and the Gulf of Mississippi. You saw the view before in some of my posts. The place here is nice. Overlooking the water. Fenced. With private boat dock. Well, the boat was also gone into pieces. They got insurance anyhow for everything but, not worth it. The memories they created in this house is too precious. My father-in-law don't want to go back because of what had happened. Every year, people living in these states listen to warnings and take it seriously.
