Veteran's Memorial Park in Merritt Island

Whole day yesterday hubby and I decided to just drive around  scenic route in our area. We made three stops first, the Veteran's Memorial Park, a boat dock along Port Saint John and Home Depot ... scouting for a lawn mower ^_^ . I took some photos for you dear readers to see what's in Veteran's Memorial Park in Merritt Island.

The Veteran's Memorial Park is located at 400 S Sykes Creek Pkwy Merritt Island, FL 32952. The location is near the Merritt Island Mall and along the banks of Banana River. If you wanted to know the direction by phone, call them at tel #(321) 453-1776 a standby officer will be there to assist you.

I was never been close to this for real. What a humungous thing!

My husband rode to this type of helicopter while he was assigned  in Vietnam.

This memorial park is really nice and peaceful. A good place to remember the heroes of war.

If you happen to visit Cocoa Beach, Meritt Island or Titusville, pay your respect by visiting to this place.

This is located near the Banana River too.

It looks ordinary looking from this point. Once you get out of the car and walk to the park, it is different. It feels peaceful and nice.

Don't forget to check out the memorial park in your area and share the photos as well. God bless everyone!

Frequent Visit of Birds in Our Backyard

Look who is having a nice siesta on my backyard? Oppsies ... the bird saw me. The bird probably thought that I am a paparazzi LOL invading his/her privacy. Living here in Brevard County, I have the pleasure of enjoying the beauties of wild birds right on my backyard. I have frequent visits from cardinals and woodpeckers. I am not sure what type of bird this one is.

Birds wake me up every morning with their nagging voices LOL, did you know that? Oh yeah and I prefer that than the noise of buzzing cars on the streets in Orlando.

Wanna see the wild gator in the neighborhood? On my next post ... I promise, I will post it here. Thanks for stopping by.

Though this bridge is magnificent in design has its own share of imperfection such as structural collapse and tragedy. The accident was a big challenge in engineering yet now; the new design of the current bridge has a bigger span than the old bridge and was constructed with steel and concrete. Thanks to the engineering team who make bridges beautiful and safe for public use.

Walt Disney : The Son of the Dreaming Tree

For the family of Walt Disney, the Dreaming Tree is very important. The Dreaming Tree is a symbol and the one place where Walt Disney started creating his fantasies and dreams. When the original tree was struck by lightning, they wanted to preserve it by planting the son of the dreaming tree.

This year, the son of the Dreaming Tree is 9 years old and it looks healthy and growing good. Read the caption below. If you are wondering where this located at, it is in Marcelline, Missouri which is the boyhood hometown of the famous animator, film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, and international icon Walt Disney.

The photo below is the original Dreaming Tree of Walt Disney. As a boy and by his own account, Walt Disney's happiest childhood memories were of his time in Marceline and at the farm. This area is part of Disney farm. In a walking distance, Walt Disney's barn still stood there and preserved. This is where Walt Disney began to draw and we are seeing it today ... those animated characters in all the Disney movies ... animals ... farmland ... trains ... it all started as he sit under this tree.

The Dreaming Tree is on the American Forests Register of Historic Trees and is protected. If you come in the state of Missouri, check out the charming town of Marceline. You will be amazed to see a resemblance of what you see inside Disney World and Disney Land. To name one : the Main Street USA where you see in Magic Kingdom has the inspiration taken in Marceline's original Main Street USA. You will see the buildings that inspired Walt Disney's vision.

If you happen to visit the Animal Kingdom in Disney World, located at the center of the park is the TREE OF LIFE. It is the iconic symbol of this place where guests can enjoy and encounter exotic animals. I was wondering if this Dreaming Tree inspired Walt to create the Tree of Life. I wasn't able to find proof of my theory though. Anyway, the Disney’s Animal Kingdom park is known to be the largest animal theme park in the world with more than 1,700 animals inside in 250 species. I visited Animal Kingdom too, countless times... lucky me huh? You should know that Walt Disney loves animals and Marceline has that  to offer. When I was there last October, vast farmlands are everywhere. The place is beautiful and charming, no wonder that the little boy Walt at that time loves this place.

The Animal Kingdom theme park reflects Walt Disney’s dedication to conservation. He is committed to animal care, education and research. Oh, did you know that as a little boy, he uses his barn "The Happy Place" and invited all the children to watch his show. The funny story was, he charged a fee to enter his barn. One time, the children was not happy with his show and they want their money back. LOL. On my next post, I will show you his barn and more of this funny story. Thanks for stopping by. Oh, try to visit Missouri and look for the town, Marceline :-) Have fun and don't get lost <3 <3.

Kennedy Space Center: Astronaut Memorial

If you want to take a glimpse of the exciting sights of space frontier then, visit Kennedy Space Center located on Merritt Island, Florida. You will experience the thrill of simulated rocket launch, meet the Astronauts at the Astronaut Encounter, take a guided bus tour, explore the Rocket Garden, be amazed of the gigantic display of the Apollo/Saturn V Rocket and many more. Kennedy Space Center is indeed one of the major tourist destinations in Florida and if you are vacationing in Orlando, you can reach the Kennedy Space Center for about an hour drive. I can come here any day I want for I have a Commander's Pass and I live about 15 minutes away... I so love this place. Let me show you about Astronaut Memorial which is one of the attractions at the Kennedy Space Center.

"The Astronauts Memorial Foundation honors and memorializes those astronauts who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the American Space program, believing that the conquest of space is worth the risk of life."

The Challenger's STS-51L Astronauts: Teacher-in-space Christa McAuliffe, Payload Specialist Gregory Jarvis, Mission Specialist Judy Resnik, Commander Dick Scobee, Mission Specialist Ronald McNair, Pilot Michael Smith and Mission Specialist Ellison Onizuka.

It was Jan. 28, 1986, after 73 seconds of lift-off, an explosion occurred and claimed the space shuttle Challenger and its 7 crew. The explosion was determined to be an O-ring failure in the right solid rocket booster and cold weather is a contributing factor.

Robert H. Lawrence was killed in the crash of F-104 Starfighter at Edwards Air Force Base in California. He was flying backseat on the mission as instructor pilot for a flight test trainee learning the steep-descent glide technique.
The airplane struck the ground hard and it caught fire. The back seat, which delays a moment to avoid hitting the front seat, ejected sideways thus killing him in an instant.

The STS-107 mission is Migrogravity Research Mission/SPACEHAB. The 7 crew was on board the Space Shuttle Columbia. Their Launch Pad is 39A on January 16, 2003, 10:39 a.m. EST. On board the space shuttle: Commander Rick Husband, Pilot Willie McCool, Payload Commander Michael Anderson, Mission Specialists Kalpana Chawla, David Brown, Laurel Clark and Payload Specialist Ilan Ramon.
It was Feb. 1, 2003 after a 16-day mission but, Columbia and crew were lost during reentry over East Texas at about 9 a.m. EST, about 16 minutes prior to the scheduled touchdown at the Kennedy Space Center. A seven-month investigation followed. The KSC debris reconstruction team identified pieces as to the location on the orbiter and 38 percent Columbia was recovered.

A tragedy struck on the launch pad during a preflight test for Apollo 204 (AS-204). The mission was to be the first crewed flight of Apollo which was scheduled to launch Feb. 21, 1967. The Astronauts Virgil Grissom, Edward White and Roger Chaffee were killed when a fire swept through the command module.

It was in the year 1966 when NASA T-38 crash occurred. NASA Northrop T-38 Talon crashed at Lambert Field in St. Louis, Missouri  killing two Project Gemini astronauts, Elliot See and Charles Bassett.

The X-15- dropped away from the NB-52B at 45,000 feet over Delamar Dry Lake. Major Michael J. Adams was making his seventh X-15 flight. There was an electrical disturbance which distracted him and slightly degraded the control of the aircraft. A chase pilot spotted the main wreckage northwest of Cuddeback. Mike Adams was dead and the the X-15-3 was destroyed.

Manley L. "Sonny" Carter, Jr died on April 5, 1991 near New Brunswick, Georgia, in the crash of a commercial airplane while on NASA business travel. That's all for now folks. If you will get the chance, please visit the Kennedy Space Center soon.

Nendaz Ski Resort in Switzerland

Guest Post by : Vivian B Capiña

Winter season has always meant skiing, snowboarding, running ski lifts, and easy ski passes. One of the world's ski resorts that winter enthusiasts love to visit again and again is Nendaz 4 Vallées (Four Valleys) located in Sion, the capital of Valais, Switzerland with a total vertical drop of 6,328 feet, a base elevation of 4,597 feet, and a summit elevation of 10,925 feet.

It has a tiny village with conventional timber houses, barns and grain stores, and with its continuous expansion and development, chalets were built, a number of coffee shops and restaurants came forth, supermarkets, and every bit of services a petite village can offer. In addition to these services, an absolutely free bus ride is available everyday, taking skiers to and from the Telecabine where cablecars go up and down the ski resort uninterrupted.
They also offer various programs for children aside from ski courses for little skiers. They provide child-minding services and toddler facilities in oder that adults can have all the time they need to enjoy the slopes without having to worry about their children who aren't geared up enough to do combat with snow and slopes.
It felt so amazing to be in a place I only used to see in postcards and movies! And what's more overwhelming than finding myself skiing?! Never thought I would one day walk like a clone trooper in Star Wars in stiff cylindrical ski boots. Up the slopes a resto bar is open for refreshments while live music adds to the relaxing and very friendly ambience.
Various lifts are accessible like chairlifts, button lifts and magic carpets. Somewhere in the midst of a vast domain of ice another but smaller refresher café sits, chairs and tables are as well settled outside, and a fountain of jazz music is sheltered close by.
The whole huge area between the Magic Carpet and the Button Lift is actually a lake in the summer! As a first time skier, I sort of felt apprehensive when I was crossing it but in my resolute desire to attempt a bit steeper slope I put fear behind me and carried on.

It was indeed a one in a million experience for me. And that day will always remind me that in this world itself are a whole lot of dazzling new worlds for one who is determined to explore.
