Shrimp Boats

When I crave for shrimps, craw fish and blue crab, I immediately remember this place near Hard Rock in Biloxi, Mississippi. The back area is a wharf where the shrimp boats dock. Hubby and I would really love to buy large shrimps for less than $3/lb. Here in Orlando, my gosh it's $9.95/lb so; my mind goes back to this place which a sumptuous feast of seafood is so accessible.Did you know that while the fishermen are shrimping, the birds are on their tail trying to steal some of the meat? Well, it's intimidating for the fishermen but, it's interesting to see really.

Crabbing at Summertime

One of the few things that I missed in Mississippi is crabbing. Aside from this beautiful view of the Gulf Coast, there are endless activities to do here too.

Emily and I were shouting at the top of our lungs when we caught our first crab.

Hubby and his cousins were having a feast time with what we caught. I don't like eating crab especially when I have to be messy while separating the shell from the meat.
Crabbing is fun and this place is amazing! Everyday, hubby and I hang out in this place!

Seafood Delights

I am so lucky to live here in the Gulf Coast because the seafoods are abundant and therefore, it is very cheap. My husband loves raw oysters and I prefer fried.
Clam is my favorite and I love to savor the taste of the soup in it.
Crab legs is very popular in every buffet dinning in the hotel and casino in this area. They usually have this menu during dinner. For at least $20/person, you will have a festive seafood meal. Come and visit Biloxi and Ocean Springs, Mississippi to satisfy your seafood cravings.

Yummy Blue Crab

I know it is not blue anymore, LOL! We went to the Front Beach last week and caught almost two dozens of blue crab and here it is now, cooked and all red. This is Marife's (my sister) favorite and not mine. Not that I do not like the meat. I do not like "hard work" during eating time, LOL.
My husband is the cook in the house so; he boiled the crab using Louisiana crab boil mix. I only eat when my husband already took the meat out, hahaha. Well, we will be having crabbing activity next week, everyone is invited hahaha. Bring your fishing license though, it's $11 for a year.

Blue Crab in Ocean Springs

We went crabbing today and we caught some blue crabs and they are huge. Do you know how to distinguish the male or female blue crab? The trick is to know the common mnemonic and that is to remember that if the abdomen of blue crab looks like the Washington Monument, the crab is male and if like the U.S. Capitol, it is female. Interesting right?
This crustacean is native to the western edge of the Atlantic Ocean specifically from Nova Scotia to Argentina. There are so many natural predators of the blue crab and that include the humans. The eels, drum, Rock Fish, spot, trout, some sharks, and cownose sting rays loves to eat the blue crab.

The blue crab is an omnivore and can consume thin-shelled bivalves, annelids, small fish, plants and nearly any other item they can find. Well, that human waste is no exemption to crabs right? So, better do your crabbing in a clean environment or else, EWWW, LOL.

The Blue Crab

The binomial name of blue crab is Callinectes sapidus. The name is taken from the Greek calli (beautiful), nectes (swimmer), and Latin sapidus (savory). The blue crab is a crustacean which can be found in the waters of the Western Atlantic Ocean, the Pacific Coast of Central America and the Gulf of Mexico. That is the reason why we caught this BLUE CRAB today. We went to the Front Beach in Ocean Springs,Mississippi and caught this huge aggressive and difficult to handle blue crab.
Whenever I saw a crab in the crab net, I can control my scream this time. We caught 2 dozen of crabs in 3 hours just sitting on the Pier. Time to chow in a minute now. Do you love crabs?

My New Found Lil Friend

We had a fun time crabbing the other day and we already had another date to do it again next week. This is the cute little girl who is with us and she is four. I first met her when she was three years old but she was so shy at that time.
She had so much fun and she was playing like my tourist guide. At four years old, I was amazed with her reasoning. A smart and witty little girl.
See how we keep smiling on the camera?
We sit at the middle now to get the "nanna' and uncle's picture too.
She was actually showing me that she can run faster than I am and I let her win of course.
They are checking how many crabs we caught.

We Went Crabbing

After I posted one paid post in my other blog, my husband and our cousins went to the Beach Front to go cabbing. We have one little girl with us who kept on tagging me so I have another little friend today. She is Emily, my fifth little friend who thought that I am a good playmate...LOL.
Emily was the one who pulled the crab nets and every time we caught one, we are screaming at the top of our lungs and it echoed on the Pier. There were less than 10 who went fishing on that area and we are the ones who caught crabs. They got nothing hahaha.
This is a tiny crab so we throw it back to the water. They really fight and crawl at the top of the crab net to get out. We use chicken as a bait.
I don't enjoy crabbing but, I enjoyed taking pictures. Here's the little girl, pulling the container for our catch.
Well, this is really huge blue crab. It almost bit me that is why Emily and I screamed. That's all for today. I will be posting some of the pictures of that area soon.
