Orlando Makes Me Smile

I love living in Orlando and if there's one thing that I despise? It's the crazy traffic. Well, if the city booming and since Disney World, Sea World and Universal Orlando are here too, crazy traffic is expected. Other than that, I love living here. This year, we are planning to move back to Mississippi though. I know right? Totally the opposite state but, there are many things that we can do for fun there too. I will surely miss Orlando Florida and we will be visiting here often because we have two investment properties here and we have no plans of letting it go. We love Orlando and yes, this place makes us smile.
Taken by me during the Citrus Parade in Orlando.

Fresh from Florida Parade

As promised, here are the pictures that I took today during the parade. This is my favorite float and I admire the flower design, so artistic and beautiful. Was disappointed to see no oranges here...Hubby and I went to Downtown Orlando early because when there is a big activity in Orlando, the streets are terrible with traffic. Actually, an hour early is not bad because we were able to find a good parking lot for $5 and it's along Central Avenue. We found a good spot right along the Summerlin Street near the Lake Eola Park. It was shaded and not so crowded.
Click here if you want to see more pictures of the floats in the parade----> Orlando Citrus Parade 2011. Happy New Year to everyone. See you next year!

Disney's Yacht Club

We went to Disney World at Epcot to unwind and since we have an all-year pass to all four parks, we can visit these parks anytime during weekdays. We went to Disney's Yacht Club Resort first to have lunch and we proceed to Epcot. This is the ferry ride that we took and I enjoyed it because the view from the lake is awesome.I took this picture from the Ferry Boat dock of Disney's Yacht Club Resort. This area is gorgeous and they have their own spectacular amenities bringing world class accommodation to tourist all over the world. The picture below is the view at the lakeside. This resort offersroom service, fitness center and spa, beauty salon, shopping area, baby sitting and child services, and more. So, if parents wants an hour or two for a romantic time, they can leave their children in the baby sitting services. The standard room in this resort for this season ranges from $360-$2150. The more beautiful the view is, the more it is expensive and you can only reserve it for a minimum of 4 days to 6 days. Pretty expensive huh?For 360 degrees, the view is amazing and you will not regret to stay in this resort. Your time to visit the theme parks at Disney World will be used wisely because you are near to everything. The ferry boat is just right there at the lakeside area of the resort.Visit disney during the winter season because the weather is cool. If you want the heat of the summer, do so but, it's really hot like 110 degrees. I do not recommend that you will visit Disney during Hurricane season because it's rainy and it will only ruin your vacation. I saw tourist who feel miserable soaking wet and trying to find their way to the hotels. Just a tip. But, if you have no other time, maybe you will find your luck and will have a good time.
I love Disney World and I hope you can visit Orlando soon with your family. It is a nice place for a family vacation.

Yacht Club Resort

Last Monday, Hubby and I were bored at home so; we decided to go to Disney's Yacht Club Resort and had our lunch in one of the restaurants of the resort. Since we had a yearly pass, we decided to visit EPCOT, one of the theme parks of Disney. The picture below is the dock area for ferry boats, the best transportation to visit Epcot or Boardwalk.Part of the grand building of the Yacht Club Resort facing the lakeside. If you have the money, you should check in to this resort. The money you spent is worth it because the access to all theme parks is easy and fast! The amenities in this resort is amazing and jaw-dropping!The picture below is part of the landscape of Yacht Club Resort. That is the life-size replica of a wrecked ship. This is the scenery that awaits you if you stay in this resort. As far as your eyes can see, that is Disney Property and you are in the heart of it! Okay, with this perfect scenery, it will cost you $350/day to $2,150/day on weekday rates with maximum of 5 days booking. Wheewwwww!
If you want to know the amenities, you can check it out in their website.

Downtown Disney

We have a visit from our family from Mississippi and the kids wanted to go to downtown Disney. We accompany them and this is a good place to bring a family without spending for entrance fees. What you spend is only the food you eat and the shopping spree you make. The picture above is crab house restaurant and it is a fine dining located in Downtown Disney.
This is the decor of the park. Full of Trex gigantic bones and some are buried under the sand where kids can play excavating it.
The picture above is the Rainforest Cafe, a find dining restaurant and a shopping place too. It is one of my favorite places in Disney.
The picture above is a Disney ride that you have to pay to get in.
There is so much to see at Downtown Disney. I like it when we roam the area at night because it's cool and there are entertainment on the theatre and it's free.
If you have nothing to do and you are in Orlando, check out Downtown Disney and hang out for a coffee. One way to cut that daily routine!

The Courthouse

This is the Orange County Courthouse here in Orlando, Florida. Remember the case of the mother of Caylee Anthony who was acquitted for all counts regarding the death of the toddler? Well, the whole world witnessed the case because it was shown LIVE on TV and this is the famous courthouse. When I took this picture, it was on a Sunday that is why there is no one here. The front of the courthouse was crowded with people who wanted to get in the court room for the next day. Oh by the way, the mother is back in Orlando in connection with the check fraud she was found guilty of. It is all about the probation issue of that case. Most people ignore that fact but, the media thought that she is an interesting news still! Most of the people I know, just shrugged that news.

Lake Eola Fountain Display

Hubby and I went to Lake Eola on the Fourth of July to watch the Fireworks. I was actually eager to go because I want to witness the highlight of the event which is the spectacular 15-minutes fireworks after the fountain display. The Lake Eola Fountain was recently renovated and on this FREEDOM day, the fountain will be turned on for the first time showing the water, light and sound display. The fountain display was spectacular and it sway with the sounds. It was a dancing fountain so to speak. Right after the fountain display, fireworks followed! If only I have a DSLR camera, my shots could have been beautiful at night. But, I am only using my blackberry phone and the distance of the fountain is a little bit far. So, the result of these pictures were all I got.
We arrived at 7PM and the park was already jam packed with people. They say, there were 80,000 people who witness the event and I guess, it probably true.
This Lake Eola Area is a circular shape and the whole place was full! Across that lake, it was jam packed of families too! There was a live concert at the theater stage and the music was echoed in the entire park. Some people enjoyed the event and I also saw people who are restless and tired of waiting. There's nothing to do but, wait for the time to start.
This is just one of the condominium in downtown Orlando which has a good view of Lake Eola. There were people on the terrace celebrating the 4th of July and they have a good place to watch the fireworks.
The spectacular show started with a countdown at 9:29 PM and lasted up to 10PM. It was fun and I would definitely comeback next year!

Lake Eola Park Fireworks Display

This year's 4th of July celebration in Orlando has been memorable in so many ways. Celebrating Freedom Day while all of us are anxious on the "verdict watch" of the Casey Anthony Murder Trial. Floridians learned to love the face of the little girl CAYLEE MARIE ANTHONY simply because from DAY 1, people are involved in finding the little girl.Thousands of people volunteered searching the woods and swamp all over Orlando. The state spent so much money to search where Caylee was because the mom won't tell where and what happen to the little girl.Caylee won't see these fireworks! She has the right to see how spectacular this event is. But, I can only hope and that will never happen because Caylee's remains was found DEAD in a swamp. The 12 jury has spoken their VERDICT on 7/5/2011 at the Courthouse which is two blocks away from LAKE EOLA PARK. This case will be remembered forever! A NOT GUILTY VERDICT for Casey Anthony is hard to take but, CAYLEE is not the only Victim who had NO JUSTICE. And that's the real truth! Who is accountable for her death? This question will be left unanswered FOREVER and it's because the 12 JURORS have spoken NOT GUILTY to the accused.Orlando will move on with life and put this case aside. The prosecution asked this question to the jury: WHO's life is better without Caylee? The lesson about this whirlwind event? Someone can get away with murder if you LIE. Someone can get away with murder if you put the body in a trash bag , tossed the body in a swamp and eaten by animals. Someone can get away with muder if you accuse men in the family with sexual abuse. Someone can get away with murder ... period! And this is true in the Casey Anthony Murder Trial! Such a sad and tragic ending with the life of this little girl.

Animal Kingdom in Disney World

If you visit Disney World in Orlando, you should explore the breathtaking attractions in Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Taking the Kilimanjaro SAFARIs is just one part of the attraction that you should start with. Kids love to see animals in their normal habitat so, take the Maharajah Jungle Trek where they can see tigers, bats and more. You can also take the Wildlife Express Train to Rafiki's Planet Watch where you can have picture taking with Rafiki and other Disney Characters. You should check out Pangani Forest Exploration Trail and Flights of Wonder attractions too, I bet you will enjoy these attractions for sure.
There is a new attraction called Wild Africa Trek, it is so thrilling and this expedition is privately guided where you will be fitted with a harness attached to a cable system. My personal favorite attraction is Animal Kingdom are: It's Tough to be a Bug, Festival of the Lion King, Wildlife Express Train (especially when I am tired walking hehehe), Finding Nemo which is the BEST.
The TREE at the middle is called TREE OF LIFE. You should go that direction because it is the home of BUGS LIFE! Young and old will love this attraction. You will get out laughing and grinning I will bet you on that!
The picture below showing the mountain with white cap at the top is the Expedition Everest the Legend of the forbidden Mountain. Inside the cave of that mountain, you will be face to face with the famous YETI. If you love high speed trek to the mysterious Himalaya Mountain, this is the thrill you have been looking for. I must admit, I am afraid with this ride hehehe.
For sure, if you take this ride, you will scream the longest scream ever! If you call it FUN then, take the challenge of this ride! Have Fun!

Home and Garden Show

Last Saturday, we went to the Convention Center in Orlando to see the display in the Home and Garden Show. We went to the North Concourse area, pay $8 for the parking and we were glad for that amount knowing that they charged $14 for the regular parking.

Even though this area is so huge, we noticed that the parking space is full! We have to circle around to find a spot. When we went in, it was already almost 2PM so, paying $10/person is ridiculous! Lo and behold, we got in for FREE! There was this lady who hand over three tickets to us so, it was really a lucky day!

I was overwhelmed to see the huge area with so many tents displaying beautiful products from mops to sailboats, from tiles to kitchen, from flower pots to garden and so on.
This display caught my eyes! This vehicle is used in the farmland or huge backyard for lawn purposes. What a good innovation right? It looks like a nice car to ride in a small town!
This is a garden display with boulders, waterfalls and nice landscaping. There were so many to see and so many to buy if you are looking for anything that matters to home and garden.
We actually ended in subscribing 3 months of local daily newspaper and nothing else. We came to see the display of home and garden products. It was fun and the three of us enjoyed that weekend.
