Cagayan de Oro City Fiesta 2010

At present, the city has two Congressional Districts (East & West) with 80 Barangays. I belong to the West District since I live uptown, overlooking the city. The climate in Cagayan de Oro City is tropical with average temperature of only 82F. The highest recorded temperature was 102F but, that was in 1988.
85% of the population in this city is Roman Catholic which is the dominant religion. August 28 marked as the Fiesta of Cagayan de Oro City in honor of the Patron Saint Augustine.

Halloween Contact Lenses

Two years ago, I was in Orlando and I attended three Halloween Parties in one day. It was my first time to participate in a costume party and it was awkward at first but, it was fun as the night progress. The first party was unique because the hosts wanted to surprise their guest with a real wedding ceremony. They were engaged for a long time and decided to have the merriest wedding on that night. The guest came in different halloween costumes, masks and some wear Halloween Contact Lenses. Their eyes were glowing in red and look really scary but, everybody were enjoying showing their costumes. Most of the guests were just having fun and did not have time to scare anybody. They were so surprised when the hosts announced that there will be a wedding that night. The party was so cool and the wedding was fun! It was a great experience for me and I did really have a good time. We went to the next invitation and it was a small party. We really did not stay for long because everyone were already in their "I'm ready to go home" mood. We went to the last invitation and the house had this weird decoration. It was scary but, the house was well-lighted so, it's alright. We had our second dinner and mingled with the guests a bit. We went home past midnight with smile on our faces. It was fun and I had a good time with the party hopping on halloween.

"Major Major" Talk of the Pageant

Miss Universe 2010 - I must admit that I was one of the hopefuls who watched the Pageant with so much excitement. Hubby and I were having a vacation here in Port Canaveral near the Kennedy Space Center and late evening is TV time. Since it was shown live in an evening show, we just watched it. Actually, we just focus watching the pageant when Miss Philippines was named as one of the TOP 15 finalists.

I was so proud especially when she was named as one of the TOP 10 finalists. Honestly, it was my first time to see her on TV. I do not have a subscription of any Filipino Channel so, I am not updated with Philippine news. She was pretty and the body was truly WOW!

Seeing her on TV and named as one of the Top 5 Finalists in the Prestigious Search for Miss Universe 2010 was totally great! My fellow "Kababayan" did so well on stage! She made it to top 5 from 83 women!

Then, came the unforgettable Q and A portion. She was the last finalist that was called and she drawn the name of the handsome William Baldwin. After she gave the answer, I convinced myself that she will make it to top 3. I know, I made a fool out-of-myself thinking she will. SIGH! Yeah! She blew her chance to be the next Miss Universe. BUT....

Should we blame her for what had happen? She was over-confident, some say! For me, maybe she was star-struck with the judge! Her answer was trending in Facebook and Twitter! I read all the nasty and harsh criticism, even below the belt!

Maybe, we Filipinos expect too much of her. That was her BEST and she was happy with Top5. We believe that she can do better than what she had shown to the world. She MIGHT BE but, what she did is good enough FOR HER and that was HER MAJOR contribution to the country.

What have we done to our country? Filipinos should move on! Just make a deepest SIGH and move on! (SIGH) and yeah ... don't frown .... just LAUGH out loud and move on! LOL!

A Visit to Paris

When my granddaughter told me she was studying abroad in Paris for a semester in college, I started making plans immediately to visit her there.

I had been there four times over the years and spoke French for years. Granted, I’m not exactly fluent anymore because I’m so out of practice but when I visited her in the spring I was able to use my knowledge a bit.

My friend Blanche came along with me to see the sites because I didn’t want to travel by myself and she had never visited there before. When we met Ashley and then ate at a café, I had trouble hearing what the waiter was saying so I didn’t get to use my French skills as much as I would have liked.

We went and hit all of the usual tourist sites like the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre and then Ashley took us on a tour of the campus of the college she was attending there.

It was such a great trip, but as soon as we got home I went to one of the miracle ear locations in my city and got some hearing aids. That incident at the café made me realized that I needed to stop putting that off and use getting them as an opportunity to make my life more satisfying.

Miss Universe 2010: Fourth Runner Up

Maria Venus Bayonito Raj was born on July 7, 1988. She was crowned Binibining Pilipinas Universe on March 06, 2010 at the Araneta Coliseum. Today, she represents my country, the Republic of the Philippines as a candidate for the Miss Universe 2010 beauty pageant. She had a beautiful body with measurement 35-22-35, an envy to many women out there.
Maria Venus Raj is a graduate of Bachelor's Degree in Communications Arts, majoring Journalism at Bicol University in Albay, Philippines. She graduated as Cum Laude. She works as an Information Assistant for the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in Region V and works as a part-time fashion model. Her life is full of controversy, especially when her nationality was questioned.

She became a representative of the Philippines for Miss Universe 2010 held at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

There were 83 beautiful women who compete for the Miss Universe 2010 crown. Luckily, Ms. Philippines was among the top 15, top 10 and top 5 finalist.

Finding My New Home

I always hated moving, which is why I stayed put for most of my life. But when I retired, I decided I wanted to move to a place catered to retirees, with lots of things to do for fun. Before I started on my search for the perfect retirement location, I started researching hearing aids charlotte, but got caught up in the excitement of travelling to visit my prospective future homes and kind of forgot about it.

Then when I was visiting a retirement community in Arizona, one of the ladies there told me that she went to hearing aids phoenix but I still wasn’t sure that I wanted to relocate there.

Almost as soon as I stepped off the plane in Miami, I knew that this was where I wanted to be. Once I moved there and settled in I looked up hearing tests miami, found a new dentist and even found a nice nail salon by my new condo!

I’m settled in and loving my life here! If only I had realized the great rewards you can get when you step out of your comfort zone.

Back to Florida

Finally, the seller accepted our offer. We found a condo in the neighborhood that we like. I really wanted to live in a house but, we have no luck of finding the house that we like. For now, we will settle in a condo with amazing HOA which is a good thing about this place. The tax is also great! If we can find a house in a year, we plan to rent this place and make this as investment. Anyway, the picture below is the newly painted wall in the house.
The realtor suggested to repaint the whole house using neutral colors and fixed the things which are negative from the buyers view. When we look at the houses and condos in Florida, some properties were sold "as is". There are so many fixer-upper and foreclosure that is why, the property looks bad. Well, we are thankful that the condo we bid was clean especially the bathroom.
The house of my father-in-law will be in the market soon. The next owner will be happy with this property. Huge backyard, two car garage with Florida room, huge living room, three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The master's bedroom has a huge walk-in closet and a fireplace. Anyway, I am just so excited to move back to Orlando.

Kickers

We are bored at home and so, we decided to go the Harbor Landing for lunch. Much as I wanted to eat Chinese food, they only have American Food. That is why, I ordered Kickers. This is made of crab meat and some spices served with hot spicy sauce. Geezzz...so yummy!

Home Search Update

Hello everyone! Up to this point, we are still in the waiting game. The offers we gave to the three properties we chose was not returned. We are hoping to hear a positive result this week. House hunting is too hard especially when you have a schedule to catch up. Anyway, I will let you know if we found one this week. Oh, the properties are all condos. We are so unlucky for houses as of this time.

Windows Replacement

We were looking for some houses today. We had two weeks of house hunting. We saw few of the properties that we like though some needs services coming from windows replacement San Antonio. It is truly hard to find the house that has it all such as double garage, three bathrooms, updated kitchen, wood flooring, and many more. In fact, three houses which has potential has outdated window. It seems that they were in the 70's and 80's. It really needs a new window that is safe and durable. We all need windows that are easy to clean also and do not accumulate dirt. I remember that the window in my aunt's place is not safe because we always get a cut when we clean it. Have you seen that window style which you can pull it from the incasing? That is what I would like to have because it is truly easy to clean. Anyway, I want a sliding window style too. Camping Sites

My sister who lives in UK loves camping a lot. In fact, they have this huge tent where it can accommodate a big kitchen, two bedrooms and has a space for the van too. They usually travel 6 hours or more to reach a camping site. I saw her pictures on FB doing so many activities such as canoeing, boating by the lake and visiting some castles. I do not know if my sister's family takes caravan camping sites but for sure, they love camping. Most of the time, it is only the three of them who goes to camping. Home Search in Florida

I can't even find the words how to tell you guys that I am so disappointed to see some houses which are NICE and in good condition but, located in a not so nice community. We are in Florida for almost two weeks now and searching for a house to purchase. All we can consider right now is a condo. There were beautiful houses at the right price but, the location was totally not our preference. I was just disgusted how few of the homeowners did not care their property so well. It did depreciate the value of the property in that area. Well, we decided to find a condo as of now and find our dream house next. We went to Satellite , Cocoa and Fort Canaveral, all in Florida Coast yesterday and those places are GORGEOUS!
