Walking on the Bay Bridge : Biloxi and Ocean Springs

I don't know how to start really. When we sold the house in the Space Coast area in Florida, we were too busy packing, moving, follow up with the papers, moving to another state, looking for a house, buying a house, moving our things from one storage to another storage, moving to our new house, unpacking, arranging, selling one of our condo property, fly back to Florida, back to Mississippi, party for my birthday, surprise visit from Spain and now ... here I am, ready to get back on track. Wheww! It was a whirlwind huh? I took a lot of pictures since May and I will be sharing them in this blog.

The first time we drove on the Bay Bridge heading to Palace Casino Resort in Biloxi, Mississippi, I said to my husband, "I didn't know how I missed the gulf coast". How pretty this place is. That's the resort and we stayed there for a week since we were still waiting for the closing of the house we bought.

The photo above was taken at the Front Beach in Ocean Springs Mississippi. The building at the far end is the Golden Nugget Casino formerly, the Isle Casino. Since we were back here in May, I walked on the bridge and rode a bicycle on that long bay bridge. Oh my goodness, I did it! I was so happy and felt accomplished! Now, who wouldn't fell in love on this view everyday of their lives? I would!

One evening right before sunset, a cousin and I went to walk by the beach and on the bridge from Ocean Springs to Biloxi (one city to the other city). We started at 6PM and hubby picked us up at 8PM in Golden Nugget at the end of the bridge. I thought I couldn't do it you know. It was a long ways. The view from the bay bridge was fantastic and breathtaking so; it has kept me going to the end. There were sailboats and shrimp boats as well as occasional display of dolphins swimming visibly by the bay. It was a glorious evening and I will be walking/running on the bridge again sometime.

While walking on the beach, cousin and I played on the sand. We put a mark on the sand with our foot. My footprint is smaller than her even though I am so much older than her. We spent probably almost an hour by the beach before we decided to walk on the bridge.

As the sun sets on the horizon, we were halfway walking on the bridge. It was breezy and a nice evening. I had fun taking pictures and enjoying the glorious display of nature.

Biloxi Bay Bridge

I was browsing photos in my Picasa and saw this. I took this photo along the Bay Bridge in Biloxi, Mississippi. I just got out from work (7 AM) and as we head home, the skies are gray but, the sun was trying to show up. I miss the view by the Gulf Coast and I was thinking, I will be posting more today. High Strength Fasteners for Bridges

Almost two years ago, I had a week-long vacation in California. I visited Sacramento, Los Angeles and later, I traveled on a road trip with my friends towards San Francisco. I enjoyed the trip especially when we pass the farmlands, vineyards and ranch. We also pass by barren lands, low mountains and one area that have windmills. The whole trip was pretty amazing. Finally, I was in great awe as we drove in the vicinity of San Francisco and saw the magnificent Golden Gate for the first time.

The architectural and suspension design of the bridge is impressive. The shape of the bridge towers and the lighting scheme are beautiful to view from a distance. The art deco elements such as the tower decorations, street lights, railings, and functional walkways add the beautiful design of the bridge. It has an orange color; very visible and attractive to see from the Bay area.

From the readings that I gathered online, I learned that the weight of the roadway on the bridge is hung from the two cables that pass through the two main towers. The cable is made of strands of wire and they are by the thousands therefore, this bridge is pretty safe.

The Golden Gate Bridge is a suspension bridge which span from the opening of the San Francisco Bay to the Pacific Ocean. This bridge is noted as one of the most recognized symbols in the United States, in San Francisco as well as in the State of California. Aside from that, Golden Bridge is now known as one of the modern wonders of the World. From the hotel, I saw the bridge from the window and it was really gorgeous at night with all those lights. Golden Gate is a beautiful landmark and each high strength fasteners are made in excellent quality materials.

The Panoramic View of the Bay of Biloxi

I always use my BlackBerry phone in taking pictures. It is just handy and convenient. When I plan for a trip, I also bring my Digital camera but, I seldom use them. While I was taking some pictures from the balcony of the ISLE hotel, I noticed one function from my digital camera. It can capture a Panorama from either left or right direction. I tried it and it just stich the 4 pictures into 0ne. This is the result. We stayed in the ISLE of Biloxi for 3 days (Mardi Gras season) and most of the time, I stayed in the balcony looking at this view. AWESOME huh?

The Bay Bridge Between Biloxi and Ocean Springs

Last September Hubby and I went to Mississippi and stayed there for 5 days in two hotels. Well, Beau Rivage is one of my favorite hotels in the area but, it was frustrating to stay in a hotel where you cannot access the Internet. Our room is perfect and the view from the window was awesome but, with NO WIFI, it was totally ridiculous. We moved to the Isle Hotel in Biloxi. I took these pictures from the balcony of our room. It was gloomy and foggy that early morning but, later on the sunrise shows an awesome display along the Gulf. Oh yeah, WIFI in the ISLE? It's everywhere in the building! Anyone can access it whether at the marketplace, Lava bar, Starbucks, and just anywhere! I can't understand why Beau Rivage cannot give the exact privilege to their customers?Anyway, this is the Bay Bridge along Highway 90. This is over Biloxi Bay between the cities of Biloxi and Ocean Springs. The Bay Bridge is a replacement to the old bridge which was heavily damaged by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. This bridge was opened in November 2007. It has a pedestrian path along the Gulf side area where people can use for jogging and have a bicycle ride.
