On Our Roadtrip: Beautiful Mountain

When I did my home renovation back home, I hired a dozen of carpenters and masons. It was only a 90-day project so, they have to finish it with in the allotted time frame. They came from a mountainous region so; when they arrived in my town, all they have in mind was going to the beach. On their free day, they went swimming to the beach and they were so excited like a child when parents announced for a Disney Trip. Oh yes, they were!

Little did I know that when hubby and I traveled from Florida to Missouri, seeing the mountains and driving the gorges along the interstate was more exciting than I thought. I was thinking, wow - such a pleasant sight! Living in the coastal is beautiful but, seeing the mountains was spectacular specially when we don't travel this far and not in the direction towards the Midwest.

Beautiful isn't it? We made a stopover in Tennessee and what a gorgeous place. I love seeing the mountains. Maybe in the next year or two, I told hubby that we should visit Chattanooga.

I was wondering where these trucks are heading and they are too many. Traveling from Florida to Missouri was one of the best road trips that we have. Honestly, we booked a flight to Kansas but, we canceled it. We decided to have a road trip instead. The weather in October was beautiful and we were happy with the decision that we made.
I took the photo above at early morning, outside the hotel where we stayed for the night. I was wondering what's it like on a snowy days here.

It was a foggy morning and it's about 7AM and we were ready to hit the road after breakfast. What a gorgeous day it was! This is the front of the hotel and yes, the hotel was built on a hill. The view is so surreal and I could live here you know. A very peaceful and beautiful place.

Walt Disney : The Son of the Dreaming Tree

For the family of Walt Disney, the Dreaming Tree is very important. The Dreaming Tree is a symbol and the one place where Walt Disney started creating his fantasies and dreams. When the original tree was struck by lightning, they wanted to preserve it by planting the son of the dreaming tree.

This year, the son of the Dreaming Tree is 9 years old and it looks healthy and growing good. Read the caption below. If you are wondering where this located at, it is in Marcelline, Missouri which is the boyhood hometown of the famous animator, film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, and international icon Walt Disney.

The photo below is the original Dreaming Tree of Walt Disney. As a boy and by his own account, Walt Disney's happiest childhood memories were of his time in Marceline and at the farm. This area is part of Disney farm. In a walking distance, Walt Disney's barn still stood there and preserved. This is where Walt Disney began to draw and we are seeing it today ... those animated characters in all the Disney movies ... animals ... farmland ... trains ... it all started as he sit under this tree.

The Dreaming Tree is on the American Forests Register of Historic Trees and is protected. If you come in the state of Missouri, check out the charming town of Marceline. You will be amazed to see a resemblance of what you see inside Disney World and Disney Land. To name one : the Main Street USA where you see in Magic Kingdom has the inspiration taken in Marceline's original Main Street USA. You will see the buildings that inspired Walt Disney's vision.

If you happen to visit the Animal Kingdom in Disney World, located at the center of the park is the TREE OF LIFE. It is the iconic symbol of this place where guests can enjoy and encounter exotic animals. I was wondering if this Dreaming Tree inspired Walt to create the Tree of Life. I wasn't able to find proof of my theory though. Anyway, the Disney’s Animal Kingdom park is known to be the largest animal theme park in the world with more than 1,700 animals inside in 250 species. I visited Animal Kingdom too, countless times... lucky me huh? You should know that Walt Disney loves animals and Marceline has that  to offer. When I was there last October, vast farmlands are everywhere. The place is beautiful and charming, no wonder that the little boy Walt at that time loves this place.

The Animal Kingdom theme park reflects Walt Disney’s dedication to conservation. He is committed to animal care, education and research. Oh, did you know that as a little boy, he uses his barn "The Happy Place" and invited all the children to watch his show. The funny story was, he charged a fee to enter his barn. One time, the children was not happy with his show and they want their money back. LOL. On my next post, I will show you his barn and more of this funny story. Thanks for stopping by. Oh, try to visit Missouri and look for the town, Marceline :-) Have fun and don't get lost <3 <3.

Hotel in St. Robert Missouri

ROAD TRIP October 4, 2012 - It was already 8PM, the road was dark and we were only trusting the GPS. We were driving towards Bonneville Missouri. We were so tired since we left the state of Georgia early that morning. When we passed St. Louis Missouri, we were ready to rest for the night. We tried to check on the hotels along the way but, we didn't like the location and the hotels so; we drove for more than an hour more. Then, I saw the big building of Motel 6 on the left side across the street. It looks like a decent hotel ... not the typical motel 6 building that I am familiar with. It looks clean and we look at the room first before we checked in. That was our first time to check in a Motel 6.

This Motel 6 is located in St Robert #4211, 545 Highway Z on the I-44 at Missouri Avenue, Exit #161
St Robert MO 65584. This Motel 6 is centrally located, clean motel, friendly staffs; restaurants are nearby as well as the food chains such as Papa John's Pizza, Waffle House and Mc Donalds. The Holiday Inn Hotel, Econo Lodge and Quality Inn are just around the corner as well. We decided to stay here because the building is newly renovated. The bedroom smells clean and we sleep well that night. Breakfast is not included but, coffee does. We really don't care. We were tired and all we care at that moment is a good night sleep.

The next morning, we were the last occupant to check out. Everyone has left early. Would I recommend this motel? Yes! If you need a good bed to sleep on, queen bed with clean sheets, clean towels and tidy bathroom then, you should stay in this motel. The price is right too. We hit the road at 9AM.
