Enjoying the Visit at the Kennedy Space Center : #Atlantis

As a Florida resident, I get to enjoy the affordable Annual Pass price in Disney World as well as in Kennedy Space Center. My annual pass will expire soon and I was hoping to use it one more time before it does. Visiting the Kennedy Space Center is always fun and exciting for me. Each visit is a  different experience but, I enjoyed every second of it. The Atlantis is an attraction that is truly spectacular! Imagine seeing the real thing that has been traveling from Earth to the space and according to KSC's fun facts, the Space Shuttle Atlantis has traveled in space for 125,935,769 miles in total. That's amazing! Seeing it up close, I can see the traces of beating that it endures ... scratches and all but, the historic Atlantis sure looks so great.

The sight is priceless especially right after the door opens. I could almost cry! Honestly, that's the feeling ... knowing that Space Shuttle Program has ended. As the guests moved to the long winding hallway, everyone goes to a huge room to see a video , the history and it's first travel and the last. It was fascinating and I was watching attentively! When the video was over, boom ... door opens and this gigantic space vehicle was right in front of me!

I love visiting the Kennedy Space Center. This is the only place that I truly missed when we moved to the Gulf coast.

Anyway, have you been to Orlando lately? Have you visited Disney World? If you have the time, check out the Space Coast and for an hour drive, you can reach Kennedy Space Center.

Though Atlantis is my new favorite attraction next to Apollo/Saturn V Center, there's a lot of attractions that I am sure you and your family will enjoy. You can relax in the IMAX Theatre and watch a full length Science-space related movies. You can try the Shuttle Launch Experience and if you love an adrenalin rush ride, this attraction might be your thing. If you love walking, you may explore the Exploration Space: Explorers Wanted. This place is truly educational. I can stay here for long hours. And yes, the Rocket Garden , you should not missed too.

Back to Atlantis Attraction, this is really a great place to unwind and read Science related facts about space, the astronauts, the Atlantis and so much more. Even the "How Astronauts Go" has an exhibit too. Well, have you ever asked that question too?

The Space Shuttle Atlantis is a vehicle and it launched like a rocket and flew in orbit like a spacecraft and when it landed on the runway, it's like a glider. That's a fact provided by #KSC. This lovely vehicle is now on display at KSC in Florida.

The picture above is located at the entrance of Atlantis attraction. An upright and full-scale replica with external tank (in orange), with solid rocket boosters, (2 of them) and stands 184 ft . Pretty awesome right?

Here we are inside the Atlantis attraction. There are over 60 interactive exhibits inside Atlantis building so; if come here ... you can stay here whole day and you will never get bored.

This area is heading to the exit and the souvenir shop in Atlantis.

Before heading to other attractions, I took a one last look and take some pictures too. The husband is taking a picture from a mezzanine area on the right where the games and other exhibits were located.

The excitement of seeing the Space Shuttle Atlantis up-close is so unreal. The Atlantis is a space shuttle orbiter. It's first flight was in October of 1985 carrying a payload for the US Department of Defense. In July 8, 2011, Atlantis made it's final mission before it retired and made Florida it's final home at the Kennedy Space Center. It made 33 missions and was able to deploy 14 satellites.

This Spring break, you should visit the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. It's about an hour drive from Orlando. I can assure you that you will be delighted to be here. I will be seeing you in Florida soon.

Astronauts Memorial at Kennedy Space Center

I found these photos in one of my folders and I'd like to share these to all of you. If you are planning to visit Florida, spend a day in Kennedy Space Center. It's just an hour away from Orlando and I promise you, you will find this place interesting, educational and inspiring.

You will see this commemorative plaque in the Astronauts Memorial, inside the Kennedy Space Center. This is one of my favorite places to visit and have the time to relax a bit. It has a different atmosphere in here; too solemn is all I can say.

This area might not be the most popular attraction if kids love the adrenalin of games and rides. For those who loves a moment of peace and quiet, this is the place to go to. The best place to contemplate what had happened to the men and women who died during Science mission.

Kennedy Space Center : VAB Tour Ends Feb 23, 2014

I know right? The Vehicle Assembly Building or VAB will close its doors to the public soon. Feb 23, 2014 is actually a date extended to give enough time for visitors to see up-close where vehicles were assembled for launch.

The Kennedy Space Center is having a “KSC Up-Close Vehicle Assembly Building Tour” and “KSC Up-Close Mega Tour” which will be offered to the public up to Feb 23. These tours are worth for the money because one will surely enjoy the behind-the-scenes and once-in-a-lifetime experience.

NASA is preparing the VAB for the new SLS launch systems for 2017. Isn’t the news awesome? That means, Titusville and all other areas in the Space Coast will be alive again. I mean, the businesses will soon back on its happy days once again. You should know that at present, there are so many establishments in Titusville went downhill in fact, many closed its doors to their clients and customers. When NASA's Space Shuttle Program ends in 2011, thousands of the employees lost their job. You know what that means right? Domino effect.

Anyway, did you know that the Vehicle Assembly Building is the largest single-story building in the world? Yep, they assemble the gigantic shuttle in this building that's why.

See the American flag on the building? That was the largest in the world when added in 1976. I took these photos when we were on tour. The driver/tour guide was explaining the length and how wide is that flag.

I have been here for so many times but, I can't find the pictures I took of the inside. It is time to take the tour once again before it ends. Oh my goodness, that will be in less than 2 weeks. SpaceX Falcon 9 Rocket Launch

I know it's late in sharing you this great news. I am so pre-occupied with so many things plus, my sister-in-law and her family will be spending an early Thanksgiving dinner with us, tomorrow. I know right? Oh, hubby and I can't wait and we are so excited for their visit. We almost forgot about this launch today. As I am writing this, I only have about 40 minutes left to be in the right area to watch it. I guess we will just watch it by the Indian River. We are too tired to watch it in Cape Canaveral. Anyway, this mission of the SpaceX is the first geosynchronous transfer orbit mission out of Cape Canaveral, Florida

Okay, this is Falcon 9 SES 8 communications satellite and the launch is scheduled today, November 25 at 5:37 to 6:43 PM EST at SLC-40, Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. The mission of SES 8 is to "provide Ku-band and Ka-band direct-to-home broadcasting and network services over the Asia-Pacific region. This rocket will fly in the Falcon 9 v1.1 configuration with upgraded Merlin 1D engines, stretched fuel tanks and a payload fairing."

As I look at outside, it is cloudy and miserable. I don't know if this rocket will launch today.

The Space Coast

Have you been to the Space Coast? The cities around Kennedy Space Center #KSC where NASA launched Space Shuttles are part of the Space Coast namely: Titusville, Cocoa, Rockledge, Cape Canaveral, Merritt Island, Cocoa Beach, Melbourne, Indialantic, and Palm Bay. Most of these cities belong in Brevard County and we live here for more than a year now. Last Sunday, we attended the mass in Merritt Island and heading home, we took the route along NASA Parkway to see if there are wild gators along the canals.

Hubby and I like to take this route because sometimes the dolphins hang out along the Indian River Lagoon. Not only that, the Manatee too. Most of the time, there are boaters on the lagoon, just enjoying the Sunday morning fishing and swimming.

Check out the photos below. This road is called NASA Parkway and we are now heading to Titusville. Far end is a draw bridge. On the right is the Titusville area and on the left, Port Saint John which is part of Cocoa area. Behind us is the Kennedy Space Center. Imagine when the Space Shuttle lifts off from this area, Titusville and Cocoa has the great view to watch it up close and roaring like a thunder. We can see it from our front yard even. Exciting isn't it?

Well, Space Shuttle Program has ended last 2011 so; any Rocket Launch in the Space Coast is coming from the launch pad at SLC-37B at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Cape Canaveral area. It is just few minutes from here. It is actually nearby the Cruise terminal in Cape Canaveral.

Now, take a look at the photo above. See the tiny building on the left? Remember that because, I will show you how it looks like up close. That is in Titusville and it is a beautiful Condo property. How I wish I live there.

On this day, we had a nice ride heading home. We saw three dolphins swimming along the Lagoon.

The photo above was taken in NASA Parkway and often times, wild gators are lurking in there. They are harmless if you don't disturb them. Free to watch. If you want to visit the Kennedy Space Center, both sides, you will see the canals. Make sure you watch closely on the water and for sure, you will spot a gator.

They are protected so; there are many of them here. That's the booster display of the Atlantis inside the Kennedy Space Center. We live about 10 minutes from the Kennedy Space Center.

Driving Down the NASA Parkway

Hi everyone! How's your first week of August? Are you excited that in 4 months' time, we will be celebrating the Christmas Holiday? Uh uh, if only I can fast-forward the time, I will (wink). I miss eggnog and buying Christmas tree is already in my mind. I am so excited right now by just talking about it. How about you? Anyway today, I will be sharing to you the normal route that hubby and I took for a short ride around the Space Coast. I shared so many photos along this road already. This is NASA Parkway, the road to Titusville and/or Kennedy Space Center.

I took these photos last Sunday and I tell you, this is the heaviest traffic we get out here, heaven right? Those cars are heading to #KSC or Merritt Island. We were on our way home about 10 minutes from here. The body of water on each side is the Indian River Lagoon where oftentimes, manatee and dolphins hang-out frequently. NASA Parkway has 4 lanes, two to each direction.

I love this place. The Indian River Lagoon is very nice especially at sunset. Most of the time, the sight of boaters and fishing boats are plenty. The waters are calm and safe despite of gator warnings.

If you pass by this area and you saw dolphins swimming, you cannot stop any time. In fact, no one is allowed to park in both sides of the road and signs are pretty much visible in the area.

Further down the road, across the draw bridge is the Hall of Fame which is part of NASA's Kennedy Space Center attraction. Check out the photo above. Anyway right now, one part of the draw bridge is under repair. It's been more than two months and according to the news, this repair will be done in September.

The traffic is not bad at all despite of the ongoing repair on the bridge.

See the flow of traffic above? Even when drawbridge is up to give way of boats passing across the other side of the lagoon, the traffic is not bad.
