I love taking photographs and that is the reason Beyond Photography blog exists. I see beauty all around me and it is awe-inspiring to snap God's precious creation everyday. SHIPPING and HANDLING:

The product arrived fast which was very impressive. The package was left outside the front door and it was raining so badly. I was so concerned seeing the package all wet. Apparently, when I opened the package, the canvas was perfectly wrapped and secured. Check out the first and second photos above. There are layers of cardboard used to protect the canvas and aside from that, the canvas was perfectly wrapped in clear cellophane. I was so happy and impressed that my canvas was in perfect condition.

Driving Down the NASA Parkway

Hi everyone! How's your first week of August? Are you excited that in 4 months' time, we will be celebrating the Christmas Holiday? Uh uh, if only I can fast-forward the time, I will (wink). I miss eggnog and buying Christmas tree is already in my mind. I am so excited right now by just talking about it. How about you? Anyway today, I will be sharing to you the normal route that hubby and I took for a short ride around the Space Coast. I shared so many photos along this road already. This is NASA Parkway, the road to Titusville and/or Kennedy Space Center.

I took these photos last Sunday and I tell you, this is the heaviest traffic we get out here, heaven right? Those cars are heading to #KSC or Merritt Island. We were on our way home about 10 minutes from here. The body of water on each side is the Indian River Lagoon where oftentimes, manatee and dolphins hang-out frequently. NASA Parkway has 4 lanes, two to each direction.

I love this place. The Indian River Lagoon is very nice especially at sunset. Most of the time, the sight of boaters and fishing boats are plenty. The waters are calm and safe despite of gator warnings.

If you pass by this area and you saw dolphins swimming, you cannot stop any time. In fact, no one is allowed to park in both sides of the road and signs are pretty much visible in the area.

Further down the road, across the draw bridge is the Hall of Fame which is part of NASA's Kennedy Space Center attraction. Check out the photo above. Anyway right now, one part of the draw bridge is under repair. It's been more than two months and according to the news, this repair will be done in September.

The traffic is not bad at all despite of the ongoing repair on the bridge.

See the flow of traffic above? Even when drawbridge is up to give way of boats passing across the other side of the lagoon, the traffic is not bad.

How to Train for a 5k Race

There are many reasons to choose to sign up for a 5k race through www.cgiracing.com or another site. For runners, it’s the opportunity to put their skills to use and beat their personal record. For non-runners, a 5k helps them get in shape and accomplish something new. Whatever category you fall into, completing a 5k race will benefit your physical and mental health and give you something to brag about. To accomplish this 3-plus-mile race, you should put in the time and effort to succeed at this task.

Running Regimen

 

You can prepare for the race within 2 to 3 months. Lace up your sneakers, fill up your water bottle, find a running buddy, and get going! If you’re an amateur runner, don’t feel you have to start fast; in fact, it’s best that you start out slow and steady. For the first week, focus on walking for half an hour a day, 5 days a week. For the 2 to 4 weeks following this period, switch between walking and jogging during your exercise sessions. As you progress, extend your walking/running time or the amount of distance you take. A couple of weeks before the race, you should run a practice 5k. When you get closer to the race, perhaps a week prior, relax a little bit more on the training and rest.

 

Food Consumption

 

You may wonder what you should eat for the upcoming race. Know that it’s never too early to start healthy eating patterns. Like Mother always said, eat your fruits and vegetables. Feast on poultry and legumes to gain your lean protein intake. Carbohydrates are excellent for fueling your body. Whole grain breads and cereals work wonderfully. If you’re concerned about proportions, it’s recommended to eat 50% carbs, 25% healthy fats, and 25% proteins. Hydration is essential as well. Eight to 12 ounces of water each day will do the trick. For the day of the race, consume a light breakfast. You can go with a banana or a bagel and call it good. Many runners like to fuel up on pasta before a race. During the Skylab's 40th Anniversary Reunion

On July 27, the Skylab's 40th Anniversary Reunion took place at NASA's Kennedy Space Center. Hubby and I went to #KSC. We arrived past 11 AM at the Astronaut Encounter (late) so; 3 of the Astronauts already made their talks. Seated on the stage are 9 Skylab Veterans and the moderator.

Supposedly, there are 10 invited Astronauts but, only 9 came while Fred Gregory, a veteran NASA astronaut moderated the discussion from the Skylab team. Most of them are already in their 70's yet; all of them have good recollections of what they did during the Skylab-era. They have good humor too. Here are two of them when they were younger.

As we all can recall, the Skylab was the first and only American space station in orbit around the Earth in the year 1973 and 1974. Skylab was launched aboard the last of the Apollo-era Saturn V rockets on May 14, 1973. The mission was to study the sun and Earth as well as the effects of zero gravity on the human body on long-duration space flights and other scientific experiments.

Anyway, here is the list of Astronauts who were invited for the discussion of the said event: Karol “Bo” Bobko, Vance Brand, Jerry Carr, Bob Crippen, Owen Garriott, Ed Gibson, Jack Lousma, Bill Pogue, William Thornton, and Paul Weitz.

There were only 9 of them who came and each one was given few minutes to discuss about their experiences while they are in the Skylab for many days.

Scheduled Launch of Delta 4 Rocket

On August 7 at 8:29 pm EDT, Delta 4 is scheduled to launch at SLC-37B at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. If anyone of you live nearby and wanted to experience the powerful sights and sounds of the roaring thunder as the engine of United Launch Alliance Delta 4 rocket lifts into the sky, you should come by the Space Coast to witness it. The Veteran astronaut Karol 'Bo' Bobko is the commentator for the live mission control broadcast. If you want to be in a special launch viewing area, purchase a ticket at the Kennedy Space Center for they have two sites available for you to witness the said event.

The Segui-Kirby Smith House

If you are interested in American History, visit Saint Augustine Florida and you will find some interesting facts about the US. This house is the birthplace of Gen. Edmund Kirby Smith. He is the last Confederate general to surrender. His mother, Frances Kirby Smith, lived in this house until she was exiled from the city for spying.When we tour the area and arrived in this place, it was already closed and it was getting dark so; all I did was take this picture. This house is now called, St. Augustine Historical Society research library which is open to the public for research. This library has the files and books on Florida history including those on the Civil War period and the Kirby Smith family. There are two bronze statues in the garden and a plaque inside commemorating its famous former residence.

Future World Attraction at Epcot

When I was in the Philippines, I have no knowledge about EPCOT Theme Park in Disney World. In high school, my friends and I would dream about Magic Kingdom and see the castle of Cinderella. Oh, we love talking about Disney and loves watching it's animated movies! I have been to all the theme parks of Disney World namely: Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom and EPCOT.Did you know that EPCOT is twice the size of Magic Kingdom? It occupies 300 acres of land for Future World and World Showcase. The picture above is in the Future World and the guests are in queue to enter the Spaceship Earth. This is one of my favorite rides in EPCOT. It is 16-minute slow-moving omnimover ride which transports the guest to 40,000 years back. From the dawn of recorded time to modern day. It is just amazing to see a prehistoric man, ancient Egypt, the Roman Empire, the printing of the newspaper, the discovery of electricity, generation of apple products showing the garage of Steve Jobs and more. The ride ends as the guests create their own future world.

I have been pondering whether to get another type of insurance. The Skylab's 40th Anniversary Reunion at Kennedy Space Center

This is a heads up for all of you who loves to know what's going on down here in Space Coast. On July 27, 2013 at 11AM to 11:45 AM, big event will happen at the Astronaut Encounter in NASA's Kennedy Space Center here in Florida.

If you come visit #KSC on this date, you can be part of the event and witness it. It is included with General Admission so; be part of the Skylab 40th Anniversary Reunion at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. On this day, Fred Gregory who is a veteran NASA astronaut will moderate a discussion with 10 astronauts from the Skylab team.

The Skylab was the first and only American space station in orbit around the Earth in 1973 and 1974. I was two years old then but, even in my elementary years, the basic knowledge of Skylab is pretty much covered in our Science class.

Anyway, here are the list of Astronauts who will be gracing the discussion on the said event:

Ferry Ride to Magic Kingdom

Visiting Disney World is always fun especially when your family is with you. Make sure that you have a camera and a tripod with you and extra battery too. If you want to visit one park in one day, that is a wise plan. But, if you still have the strength to move on to another park, why not right? Children loves Magic Kingdom so; be there early.

There are two ways to go to Magic Kingdom it's by monorail which is fast and ferry boat if you want a scenic ride. If you are not in a hurry, take the ferry boat and enjoy the view by the lake around Disney World property.

If you want to take pictures, the second floor of the ferry boat is the best seat there is. You can get a good scenic shot from there. It's not that far but, I can assure you that you will enjoy the ride. Make sure that you have your itinerary on which attraction to go first in Magic Kingdom.
 
Let the kids decide where they want to go first. Cinderella Castle is located at the heart of Magic Kingdom. This park is huge, about 107 acres with the following whimsical lands: Main Street, U.S.A., Adventure land, Frontier land, Liberty Square, Fantasy land and Tomorrow land.

If you love fast rides and adrenalin pumping attractions, check out Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Mad Tea Party and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. I love the Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, Main Street Vehicles, Pirates of the Caribbean, Transit Authority People Mover, and Railroad.

To save your time, get the FAST PASS but, you can only use the fast pass once in a specific time. Say, you take a fast pass at 10AM for three attractions. It will only work to one attraction. You need to get another fast pass in another time. It's free and you don't need to wait. Have fun!
